Grandy Z tells a story

 

- Kharena! Arrus! Come now, children, Grandy Z has another story for us.

- So where were we? Let me remember . . . Oh, yes, the Arch of Kerath!! We had just come back from another attempt to reach the surface, but -

- And so we were in a boat. Can you believe it?!?! I got in by myself, and then J'henan got in and the boat rocked, I'm telling you – can you believe it?!?! It rocked!!! We moved to one side and nearly tipped over, dang if we didn't!!
- Arrus, stop it! Mom, Arrus tried to turn my power off!
- So we had a motor – no oars, like they have now, where you can actually row! Can you believe it?!?! So we're going through the Arch and there's an eerie silence, as if someone's turned my speakers off – speakers, can you believe it?!? Where is everybody, I ask J'henan. You see, back then they had auto-avatarics because --
- Kharena, don't touch that, Mom is going to get you!
- not everyone had boradband!! Can you believe it?!?!

- So we arrive in K'veer and we don't see anyone, and then it hits us – the avatar server is down!! I think they borrowed it from Barrysworld, or maybe picked it up for cheap after UbiSoft collapsed, can you –
- BELIEVE IT! BELIEVE IT!! WE BELIEVE IT!!
- And then the walls started shimmering, so we knew something was really wrong. And you know what?!?! It was the Great Power Failure of 2007!!! J'henan turned into a wire frame, and you don't want to know what I looked like, but I'll show you anyway (accessing server, image downloading)
- UGH! That's gross, Grandy!! MOM, ARRUS IS GOING TO PUSH THE RESET BUTTON!!
- So we just had to wait for the power to come back on before (connection severed, accessing, accessing, accessing, unable to establish connection . . . . )
- Mom, Grandy's logged off or something, can we go to the surface now and play?
