realMYST Easter Eggs 

What is this? Who has been writing graffiti inside the clock???  (December 17, 2000)
 

--Update: May 27, 2003--
On May 15, 2003, I had the privilege of a brief correspondence with MarkD from CYAN in which he agreed to reveal  the true meaning this Easter Egg:

"Doug [McBride] and Steve ("Og") [Ogden]  put that there one late night while working on realMYST as a signature of the two of them. Steve and Doug came to Cyan very close to the same time and they were both MRD fans beforehand, so they became friends very quickly. During Doug's first year here he would describe his duties as "The person assigned to set next to Steve". Also, the first few months they were here, us old timers would continuously mix up they're names. So, the two of them decided that we should just call them "Dave", which they considered to be a cross between Doug and Steve."

Steve Ogden wrote me,
"Our first idea was to put "DAVE" up there. In the end, we went with

DO
UG

because it read Doug in total, and OG down the right hand side... because we didn't think anyone would get the DAVE joke."


Many heartfelt thanks go out to MarkD for revealing this information and also to Doug McBride, Steve Ogden, and MarkD for allowing me to share this with the community.

You can't swim, but you can get your feet wet...

The graffiti was the first Easter Egg discovered in realMYST. It was found by A'Reandal. um, that's me. :o ;-)
The other, about getting your feet wet, isn't a true Egg but is interesting.
